Thank you all at NTU for all the wonderful coverage during the year. I was in Nottingham last week and stood across the road from the nest. I saw a falcon at the end of the ledge but had no binoculars with me. I saw a lot of what looked like remains of prey on the left hand side of the portico of the Theatre Royal, so guessed our Peregrines take their prey around there too. Really looking forward to them nesting again in 2014 and would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a very healthy and happy New Year.

Hi Pam…….I tend to leave the webcam on all day on my laptop and nip in and out as I want, it keeps me entertained 🙂 I have never been able to get sounds but I might just have to try your trick! The falcons were in and out early this morning (I have been watching the winter olympics since about 6.30 haha) and saw first a single bird on the nest, poss male, then both then single again….seems like there is a lt of nestbox activity over the last few days.

Just sat and watched the female give the nest box a right good tidy up….she was busy there for quite some time, then the male appeared with a bird, which he started to snack on, before hopping along the edge toward the box. It looked as though he was going to offer it to the female but she hopped onto the ledge, stayed a few moments then flew off…….fingers crossed this is a sign of things to come !

I see what you mean Belinda…….this is when we need the camera zooming in…..fingers crossed its not a couple of eggs…..but if it is and there are more to come I hope the female makes it to the nest box……I have wondered lately whether there has been some noise the other side of the window that has put the birds off actually using the box as they seem to have spent a lot of time lately staring hard at the window and tipping heads to one side as if listening to something

I wouldn’t worry Belinda – falcon eggs are brown. But I do think we will see some action soon.

It has happened! One brown egg, and I saw her laying it. She looked really uncomfortable, all puffed up and in fact appeared quite ill. But the egg is now there and the two parents have made no attemt to brood it, just been sitting on the ledge for a few hours. Is there a reason they don’t brood straightaway? Do they wait for the entire clutch before they start sitting? And … is it OUR Perrys? Does anyone know if it’s the same pair?
